Ngohiong Anyone?

I like to eat and aside from travel and seeing the world in brand new eyes, I like cheap good food. The cheaper the better. I don’t eat food that tastes like cardboard unless absolutely necessary (e.g. I have to eat and there’s nothing edible within 20 km radius aside from the cardboard tasting food). And for being cheap and tasty, I will the Chineses Ngohiong space in my blog as credit for being part of my college diet.

Reasons why I like eating ngohiong:

1. It is tasty and cheap.

2. Aside from the oil, the ingredients are quite healthy.

3. And last, tasty ngohiongs are not hard to find.

It is not hard to find but the best tasting ones are usually not found in malls so if you’re up for a mini food trip for your ngohiong craving, then continue reading.

1. Ngohiong in Talamban

You will not miss the place, the place is just across Rosedale and a popular hang out among college students. Many years ago, I attended a summer class (yes, because I failed a subject) and I ate ngohiong everyday for lunch. Yes, EVERYDAY. Paired with 3 puso (hanging rice) and Mountain Dew, I spend less than 20 pesos a day for lunch. Now, a single ngohiong cost 7 pesos.

2. Ngohiong in Manalili St.

Just across the back of Collonade Mall, the eatery aptly named Chinese Ngohiong does serve tasty ngohiong. This eatery satisfied  my ngohiong cravings while I was taking my ECE review in Excel. And once in a while, I still go there and reminisce how it was like to be jobless, broke and unsure of what to do with my life (char)

3. Ngohiong in Guadalupe

Hands down, the best tasting ngohiong I have tasted so far. Located in Fairlane Village(it is across Guadalupe Elementary School), just turn left on the first corner until you see a small nameless eatery. Each ngohiong cost 6 pesos each, puso is at 2 pesos each. Unlike the previous 2 ngohiong places I suggested, ngohiong at this place is served piping hot. You might have to wait a little longer though, but once you taste their ngohiong, it is really worth the wait. For a small place, they do have a lot of loyal customers. The place is open from 7.30 AM till 1.30 PM only so if you plan to have a late ngohiong lunch, go earlier.
